On the nature of days...
A day, a livelong day, is not one thing but many. It changes not only in growing light toward zenith and decline again, but in texture and mood, in tone and meaning, warped by a thousand factors of season, of heat or cold, of still or multi winds, torqued by odors, tastes, and the fabrics of ice or grass, of bud or leaf or black-drawn naked limbs. And as a day changes so do its subjects, bugs and birds, cats, dogs, butterflies and people.
from The Winter of Our Discontent by John Steinbeck

Great quote:))
That's why I love Steinbeck, somehow sounds much more human than Hemingway....
There's a certain dryness to Hemingway's writing (I always feel bad saying that, but it's how I feel about what I've read by him)...I absolutely agree with you on Steinbeck. And yes, this is a lovely way to describe a day - it even hurt a bit reading it, because I've been under house arrest for two weeks now due to chicken pox and my days just seemed so...dull, seeing the wonderful weather outside and being locked away like some prisoner :))). But I am taking the risk of finally going out this afternoon, so day, here I come :)))!
Oh, sorry to hear that you've been ill :( Chicken pox is a real drag, but at least now you'll know that it's over;)
I hope you're feeling better now and you can enjoy the coming spring.
Dear Angie, thank you for your concern :). Yes, it is a real drag, I guess it's better to get through it as a kid than to have it plague you when you're older :)! Spring is awesome - I absolutely loved Sofia today, felt a bit like an alien - staring at buildings/trees/people, as if I've never been out in the open before :)))))) It was great!
